Global Vision deals with the way rewriting reality and how our minds override what is “real” in order to fulfill our desires and defer fear – our perception vs. reality.

The result is what is illustrated by Global Vision, we have grossly ignored the balance of nature in the West and as a result we аre now facing the destruction of our planet, our health, our safety and our security.

The use of globes in this work symbolizes our desires (our perceptions), now a fabrication from memory, a fantasy.

Global Vision reflects how human beings аre denying climate change and its effects, even as the results of our negligence erupt around us, destroying all life. We carry on like nothing has changed, with our heads in a preverbal bubble, statically focused only on what we want to see.

Donna Garcia is a lens-based artist whose work elaborates on the idea of pulling away from a cultural grand narrative and towards a state of becoming and potential. She creates images that аre indexical in nature not iconic – uncertain and indeterminate. There is a strong presence of future and coming into being, which allows her images to pull the viewer forward through recognition and interpretation, into a new sovereignty, allowing them to see what they didn’t see before. She has exhibited at The Griffin Museum of Photography, The National Civil Rights Museum (Atlanta), Jadite Gallery (NYC), Center for Photographic Arts (California), Los Angeles Center of Photography, SITE: Brooklyn, The Rockport Art Museum, CPAC, Denver, Peinture Fraiche, Belgium, FotoNostrum Gallery, Spain, and The PH21 Contemporary in Budapest. Her work has been featured in multiple international publications and she is a 2019 nominee of reGENERATION 4: The Challenges of Photography and the Museum of Tomorrow. Musee de l’Elysee, Lausanne, Switzerland. Emerging Artists to Watch worldwide. Donna Garcia has a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design.
