Christina Siu, Freedom II, 2021

I create out of intuition, interwoven with my life themes and way of thinking including thinking out-of-the-box and seeing what is not there. My work celebrates exploration; uncovering patterns, colors, or forms that my eye sees as interesting…unusual, beautiful. Light and beauty are captured in camera or teased out in post-production. I create without set boundaries and expand them, with freedom to imagine, and redefine what is by using varying scales, colors, and my perspectives. My visions inspire others to dream, spread more light and beauty into one’s life and today’s world, foster curiosity, and shed society’s limitations of what is and isn’t. My current work also brings the power of light and positive vibrational energy to the viewer. I am using other media to create multimedia projects and art installations to further explore the themes of light, positive vibrational energy, color, and movement.
With unusual thinking and a tendency for non-conformity, Pennsylvania (USA) based visual artist Christina Siu applied these life-long traits to her nature-based digital photography for the past twelve years. A Hallmark Institute of Photography graduate (2012), she gravitated towards the commercial side of photography but her heart was always in nature and fine art. Christina’s work reflects intimacy, color, light, and her constant life themes, some of which include individuality, curiosity, and breaking boundaries and limitations. Intuition fuels Christina’s decisions on what and how she photographs her subjects and how she processes them in the digital darkroom. She has shown internationally through juried exhibitions, both in galleries, museums, and online. In 2023, she placed second in her category in the World Art Awards. In 2024, she was a category finalist and Top 100 for Closeup Photographer of the Year 5, won honorable mention in an exhibition at the Bristol Art Museum, and placed 8th in Cross Currents Gallery’s online exhibition. Christina currently works toward creating multimedia and installation art using media other than photography.
