“Bird’s-Eye View”
A vintage headpiece adorned with the plumage of a Bird of Paradise, made in the early 20th century, when countless birds were sacrificed for fashion. Photographed from above as if seen from the sky. This perspective evokes the bird’s lost vantage point, turning an object of opulence into a symbol of disappearance. Once an accessory of social status, it now endures as a spectral reminder, preserved across time.
The hat is part of the collection of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.

“Fire”
The Bird of Paradise, once living, once worn, now persists in a state of suspended meaning. Neither natural nor ornamental, it exists as evidence of violence aestheticized, of extinction made desirable. The feathers flare not as decoration, but as residue: a trace of extractive histories embedded in fashion, preserved by science, and reframed by display. What burns is not the object, but the silence around it.
The hat is part of the collection of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.

(NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia)以及北卡罗来纳州立大学(North Carolina State University)。
I am an artist, developer, and educator born in the former Yugoslavia. My creative journey began in Hungary and later expanded into academia in New Zealand. I hold a master’s degree in Cross-Disciplinary Art and Design from the University of New South Wales, where I focused on interactive storytelling through physical computing. With over two decades of experience in computer-aided art and design, my work spans installation, digital media, and photography. Photography has remained a constant in my practice—both as a documentary tool and as a medium for critical expression—and I continue to explore its capacity to frame narratives, evoke memory, and reveal unseen connections. Throughout my career, I have worked and taught at universities and studios in New Zealand, Singapore, and the United States, including Media Design School, NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia, and North Carolina State University. I am currently a professor at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design in Philadelphia.
