Karl Pont

My artwork invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find meaning in abstraction. Working primarily in photography and sculpture, I explore reduced forms and atmospheric compositions that encourage emotional engagement. Many of my photographs are captured in fleeting moments, while traveling, walking, or looking out of a train window, blending stillness with motion, light with shadow. My sculptures, often created from driftwood collected near Lake Constance, bring life to forgotten materials and take on animalistic or mythological shapes. Each work is open to interpretation, allowing space for the viewer’s imagination and personal story.

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Austria, working across photography, sculpture, and painting. My creative practice is rooted in storytelling
whether visual or written, and shaped by a deep fascination for nature, travel, and cultural mythologies. Over the years, I’ve participated in international exhibitions in London, Zurich, Budapest, São Paulo, and Chianciano. In 2024, my photograph The Lonely Swan was included in the permanent collection of the Chianciano Art Museum. I often work with natural and found materials, especially wood and stone, transforming them into expressive forms that speak to memory, transformation, and the passage of time. Alongside my artistic work, I write short stories and am currently developing two novels. I find balance in creativity, family life, and the ongoing dialogue between past, present, and future.
