Artist Interview | Peter Binz

Independent & Image Art Space: How have you been doing? Are there any plans being discontinued? Or Have you got new inspiration?
Peter Binz: I always have new inspirations with experimental photography and sculpture, virtual or real. My studio is full of real sculptures, so I am in the work mainly with virtual sculptures.

Independent & Image Art Space: How have you developed your career?
Peter Binz: More than 40 years ago I photographed light reflections on a water surface. These pictures have inspired me to make sculptures. I work with acrylic glass, iron, copper and chrome steel. There is always an interaction between images and sculptures.

Independent & Image Art Space: Could you please tell us how you were first inspire to do sculpture, especially the virtual sculpture you present with us at the show RE-SEE?
Peter Binz: From 1980 to 1995 I did a lot of experiments with light and photographic material. In 1995 I bought a computer and started digital photography. At that time I also had 3 dimensional work with the computer. I work with Adobe Photoshop and Cinema 4d from Maxon.

Independent & Image Art Space: In what ways do you think the Bauhaus artists have influenced your creation?
Peter Binz: Since I started working as an artist, the Bauhaus artists have fascinated and inspired me. Lyonel Feininger, Oskar Schlemmer, Wassily Kandinsky and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy influenced my thinking and my actions.

Independent & Image Art Space: Have you been rethinking the value of art recently? Any changes on what you think?
Peter Binz: In the near future I will have a lot of work with the ongoing projects in photography and sculpture. As a big project I plan to make a book with all my work of the past years.
