Everted Sanctuaries is a series of stop-motion videos. Found objects are transformed to reveal complexities that often go unnoticed below the surface. Transient past states are incrementally recorded over weeks and compressed into brief animations. The transformations become metaphors for the uncomfortable process of becoming temporarily extroverted.
This performance is simultaneously action and reaction, assertion and retreat. The work explores the contortions necessary to fit in and asks viewers to consider the depth and vulnerability concealed beneath silent surfaces.
