Recognizing nature shrinking under our growing industrial cover I photograph natural talents in settings of stunning nature to draw attention to climate impact. Dramatically lit dancers strike great poses that command consideration. The origin story of this series begins in a hospital basement and is followed by Universities and Laboratories. Shortly after a recovery from paralysis, I received grants to work with noted scientists. Working with bionano researchers and digital prosthetics designers I was offered a rare glimpse of vanguard processes. Witnessing medical ‘advancements’ affording superhuman capability made me appreciate natural ability more. I left the lab and have been working on location ever since. Some works sadly have become memories of an immediate past as the settings are no longer the same – making the impact of climate change clear. The photographs celebrate and shine light on our present day paradise and visually fuel hope towards preservation and enjoyment.

Scot J. Wittman is an artist based in the city of Philadelphia (one hour south of New York City) who exhibits internationally. His work has been seen by millions when it was a billboard in Times Square NYC, and enjoyed by select few in private collections. He has received numerous grants, both national and regional, and has exhibited in the Whitney Biennial, Art|Basel, and various galleries – most recently in the heart of Paris, the week Notre Dame reopened. Wittman has presented at Yale University, Rutgers University and Swarthmore University. Artist In Residence programs have allowed him to work with noted bionano engineers and collaborate with famous dancers. His work shines light on climate change impact and the uplifting future of possibility. He received his Master of Fine Art from Cranbrook Academy, is the Dean of Arts at Rutgers Preparatory School, and leads as President of the Independent School Art Instructors Association.
